A safe space to meet like-minded people
Looking for gay and LGBTQ+ theatre events in London? West End Outings began life arranging LGBTQ+ theatre nights, and it’s still at the heart of what we do. We bring members of the community together to see West End shows and, just as importantly, to meet like-minded people in a warm and safe space.
Each event is a show plus a social. You’ll meet the group for a social before curtain-up, sit together for the performance, and have the option to carry on afterwards. No awkward solo arrivals, no pressure, just theatre enjoyed in good company.
The events are built to be welcoming and safe, whether you’re a regular on the scene or new to it and looking to find your people.

Everything you might want to know about our LGBTQ+ theatre events in London, from who comes along to how booking works.
The social side is as much a part of the experience as the show itself. For West End theatre events, we usually meet around 90 minutes before the show at a nearby bar or pub. Your host will be there to welcome you, and you’ll have time to get a drink and get to know the other people going. Tickets are handed out before you head into the theatre, so you can keep the conversation going.
After the show, everyone meets outside the theatre for a group photo before heading off.
You’ll receive full details – meet-up time, location, what to expect – by email in the week before your event.
If it’s your first time, you will need to create an account to be able to book onto an event. Once this is complete, simply scroll through our events page and find what events appeal to you. Select the number of tickets, add to basket, and head to checkout. If you’re on a paid membership, any applicable discount will be applied automatically – you don’t need to enter a code.
You’ll receive a confirmation email once your booking is complete. Further details will then be sent as a reminder the week before the event date
Tickets are non-refundable in most circumstances. If you can no longer attend, you have two options:
- Gift your ticket to a friend or family member. You can transfer your place to someone else – just make sure they’re aware of what’s involved in a West End Outings event so the experience runs smoothly for everyone.
- Let us know and we’ll try to seat-fill. If we can resell your seat, we’ll issue a credit to your account wallet, which you can put towards a future booking.
It’s important you contact us as soon as you know you can’t attend. Tickets are issued at the pre-show social, so knowing who’s coming matters.
It depends on your membership tier:
- Basic: No set limit (subject to availability). Tickets are at the standard WEO price, which is already below box office.
- Single: One ticket at the additional member discount rate per event.
- Joint: Up to two tickets at the additional member discount rate per event.
- Family: Up to five tickets at the additional member discount rate per event.
If you need more discounted tickets than your tier allows, additional tickets can be purchased at the standard WEO price.
Our LGBTQ+ events are where West End Outings started. When Adam founded the company in 2022, it was specifically to create a group theatre experience for the LGBTQ+ community – a way to see great shows alongside other people who shared the same love of theatre and wanted a social experience around it.
LGBTQ+ events run throughout the year and cover a range of West End shows – from big musicals to smaller productions. They follow the same format as all WEO events: a pre-show social, a host, tickets issued before you go in, and a group photo at the end.
Our LGBTQ+ events are designed for and primarily attended by the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. They’re a welcoming, inclusive space. If you’re unsure whether they’re right for you, feel free to get in touch and we’ll help you find the event stream that fits best.
That’s exactly what they were designed for. A significant number of WEO members first came to an event knowing nobody. The pre-show social format means you’re not walking into an awkward silence – there’s a host, there’s a reason to be there, and by the time you get into the theatre you’ve already had a proper conversation with someone.
West End Outings runs a dedicated LGBTQ+ events programme from its West End theatre club. It’s been running since the club launched in 2022 and is one of its original event streams. LGBTQ+ members attend group outings to West End shows, with a pre-show social at a nearby venue before each performance. The events are welcoming to people attending alone. West End Outings is based in London and operates throughout the year.
West End Outings runs regular LGBTQ+ theatre nights across London’s West End and beyond. Each one combines a show with a relaxed social meet-up, so you can enjoy theatre and make friends in a welcoming, safe environment.
Not at all. Many members join us on their own. Every event starts with an informal get-together before the show, so coming solo is the norm here, not the exception.
